D&D Miniatures - Mage Knight style?

Forgive me if this has been discussed before, or is being discussed in another forum...

I have a question about the new D&D Miniatures game, the one that will have elements appear in the new revised version. Will these be pre-painted plastic figures, with click-able bases, like Mage Knight figures? Anyone heard any rumours on this?

I really hope not. That's just taking it farther and farther from what it really is. If they wanted to release a game like that totaly seperate from 3E, fine, but trying to merge it with 3E wouldn't be good, IMO.

welcome to the boards JavaApp :D

i hadn't heard of such a rumor before now, but it wouldn't surprise me. WizKids is getting licenses to produce all sorts of games (from DC, Marvel, Battletech...)

...and i actually wouldn't mind it too much. my gaming group uses Mage Knight figures in place of miniatures in our games all of the time. if WizKids started producing a D&D line, we'd get a ton of new figures to use that are more D&D appropriate

mage Knight has the Dungeon series which is closer to D&D than any of their other stuff and includes creatures that are very D&D like Manticores and the such. Each booster comes with an opening Terasure Chest which is neat to use as a prop in D&D.

In a perfect world, Wizkids would work out a deal with Hasbro to let them make clicky-D&D minis, and in return, Wizkids could make Star Wars clicky-minis.

Alas, that's almost certainly not going to happen. But it would be cool.

If wizards did this, they take away from what the game is. I'm old school, and the mage knight fig bases are alot bigger then normal figs. Besides, how would they do the bases for the player characters? Too many varibles to put in the bases. I will also not buy them, I'll use my old figs.
