Message: <blockquote data-quote="Swiftbrook" data-source="post: 1494979" data-attributes="member: 6198">I think the format and price changes are going to hurt mini sales.  IMHO we, the Internet groud, are a big reason for the big run up in sales of minis.  The average gamer goes to his FLGS and purchases one, two or maybe three expansion packs for $10 each.  We, on the other hand, go to Ebay or GameOutfitters and purchase one, two, or three cases at $100 each.  I include myself in the we as I have recently purchased my first case of Archfiends.  My case was almost perfect.  On 2 rare duplicates and at least one of every common and uncommon.  But I will not be purchasing a case of "Giants", too much $$$$.  I think there will be fewer of us who go out and purchase cases of "Giants" as well.I think WotC is making lots of money on minis.  Instead of trying to make the mini craze last as long as possible, and make the most money in the long run, I think their looking to get short term profits before the market dies.  These price increases and 25% reduction in the contents of a starter set are putting some nails in the minis coffin.  Right now it's $10 to pick up a booster.  Soon it will be $20.  When the prices come back down in the fall it will be $13, but the 4 to 5 months at $20 each is going to really hurt sales.Again, this is my oppinion.I've been wathching the prices on Ebay for minis.  Except for a few, most rares are selling for $5 to $8, not the $12 to $20 they were 6 weeks ago.  I think that prices have begun to stabalize and that prices of the "giant" set will be similar on Ebay to current minis, with the exception of the huge rares.  I know that I will be purchasing all my future minis in singles or very well priced groups.  I would rather pay $25 for a rare and a handfull of commons and uncommons that I really want, than a $150 for a case of the unknow.-Swiftbrook</blockquote>
