D&D Minis: Preview X

Well, # 11 is up, definitely the Eldritch Giant - this looks like a good one...

Also, I saw a repaint ad for a Huge black with a sorcerer rider over at Paizo, it's only available to Dragon subscribers, but at least we know another Huge in the set... Along with the supposed Nightmare rider, our unknown wolly mammoth, and our dino-riding halfling, that makes four mounted figures for this set, two of them Huge. Not bad really. :D

There actually was some dicussion that it might be a poorly shot gnoll at some point... (I've been keeping records) BTW, has anyone positively ID'd the red dino, dragon thing (#3) and the plant thing (#4) yet?

The huge black dragon was a great sculpt til they put that dork on top of it. Let's hope it's removeable like the colossal red's fire. Otherwise, it's scalpel time.

Jo,

It might be that. I thought the dragon was a promo Mini, you know not with this set...

Thunder,

Really? Huh I thought it was obvious. No idea about #s 3 and 4

Some of the minis look really, really good. Of course, the finished product that arrives at home won't be looking as good, I expect, but still. Some great minis on this set.

The black/rider repaint is a promo figure, evidently there is a production model in the run as well. It also appears that there will be a huge/large (some debate over which it is) furry spider as the promotional figure at the conventions. There seems to be some doubt that the two box method will yeild enough usable figures to run a real random draw tourney, so everyone will get a HFS that is stated for use in any warband.

Was there ever any doubt that it wasn't the Eldritch Giant?

I was the one who posited that it was an Eldritch Giant (in the previous thread here), and others thought it might be some sort of orc or gnoll. I've also pegged the next-to-the-last as a Slaughterstone Eviscerator, and I'll wager my eye-teeth that the "guitar-muppet" is an Athach (whatever eye-teeth are).

I gotta say, I love being right--especially in this circumstance, because the eldritch giant was one of the huges I was really begging for. I wanted the Death Giant a little more, and a Deepspawn or Phaerim even more than that, but I'll take what I can get.

I really wanna see what this curly-winged sonuvagun for tomorrow is.

Regarding the Dragon-mag mini: I thought it was the paintjob for the mini that subscriber-exclusive, not the mini itself?

Well, let's see what we've got for huges so far:

Purple Worm
Aspect of Tiamat
Aspect of Bahamut
Bluespawn Godslayer
Awful Crappy Dragon-Dog Thing
Dracolich
Huge Fire Elemental
Eldritch Giant
Curly-winged Critter to be revealed tomorrow
Guithar-Muppet (Athach) to be revealed Thursday
Woolly Mammoth w/Rider to be revealed next Tuesday

Now, if we've got a huge Fiendish Spider, that's 12 huges. That's all we get, right?
