I think it's far more likely that as much as those of us who got used to 3.5 as a thing, that WotC found that making a "half edition" was a mistake. (Of course, the bigger mistake was that they should have waited three more years, fixed more issues, and released a 4th Edition that looked a lot like Pathfinder would do further down the line...)</blockquote>
