Message: <blockquote data-quote="DEFCON 1" data-source="post: 9432507" data-attributes="member: 7006">For me the easy answer for why I don't call the game 5.5 is thus...During OneD&D, Wizards told us what they were doing with the game and what their plans are.  Lots of people then complained, insulted, and purposefully misinterpreted things the company said because they were still all bent out of shape about previous things Wizards had done and they didn't want to give any indication they had "forgiven" the company for past slights.  They were still angry, so they continued to push that anger into the entire OneD&D process... making ridiculous claims or demanding inane things just so they could remain pissed off (and still to this day remain pissed off at them) and people like me had to see them constantly pop up in all manner of threads acting in that way and just being generally irritating.  Those are a lot of the people who kept demanding that we acknowledge the game as a "new edition" and any of the various variations of nomenclature they threw out that we should be calling it, including "5.5".Well...
