Too true... Reminds of an episode back in high school in the 80's. Some kids were sneaking into one of the theater storerooms to play cards or something (drink, smoke, whatever). At one point, the principal called me into his office and led me over to look at the room, because... A ) my dad was a teacher, and I was deemed somehow "trustworthy". B ) thru the grapevine, he'd heard about some kids at another school getting hurt by acting out this D&D game. Note - rumor's like this were really common in the 80's C ) he had heard I was familiar with D&D. So I get escorted this little storage room. He asks me to survey it to see if it's possible anyone might have been playing "that D&D game" here. There's 4 chairs in a rough circle, a pencil under one of them along with an flattened cigarette butt. There's nothing else there beyond that besides the theater storeroom stuff. Upon closer examination, I found the pencil was extremely dull, so it wouldn't have been very good for writing down stuff on a character sheet. I basically told him, while it was remotely possible that people were playing D&D here, it seemed really unlikely. Usually, you need a table to hold your books, sheets and dice, so the arrangement here wasn't very good for that. Instead, based on the chair arrangement, I surmised they might have been playing cards, or...just talking... He inquired about the chair formation asking if that could be significant. I just kind of glared at him and told him that it didn't have any special meaning I was aware of, but it would probably allow you to face each other easier for PLAYING CARDS OR TALKING. I leave. Later that day, I find out from my dad that the principle is now even more convinced based on what I said that they are playing that D&D game back there. Apparently, the "remotely possible" part was all he needed to hear to leap to that conclusion, and mask out any other possibilty. A couple weeks later they did catch the people breaking into that room. Turns out one of them had a makeshift key and they were playing hooky to...get this...play cards.
