D&D the ultimate fantasy

I was thinking this morning that D&D is essentially the ultimmate fantasy.

Because of the fact that people can pick up the best of whatever fantasy they want, it becomes dynaic in a sort of way. Thus, it is the best fantasy for any person.

But, there is also the "Standard D&D" fantasy. That strange blend of high fantasy and Swords and Sorcery that can only be described as its own Genre. In reference to this, it is almost like Robert E. Howard, Fritz Leiber, JRRTolkien, H.P. Lovecraft, Jack Vance, and Mike Moorcock all got together and decided to come up with somthing. Each one contributed bits. I think that is pretty neato.

I think he just had an epiphany about one of the things that he really likes about the game.

Not really a point so much as a "This is the best hobby....EVAH!" comment.

In this era of technology enabling extreme photo-realism and ever-increasing budget blockbuster entertainment, it's just cool that with some books, dice, minis, and snacks, we can achieve fantastic experiences that can fool ourselves into ignoring the literal perception in favor of idealized "fantasy" perception. Like a waking dream that we share.

Or something.

D&D is not my ultimate fantasy. It's fun, but I think my ultimate fantasy would involve less me slogging through muck fighting creatures that would make any sane person run, and more of Tara Reid and Ashanti

Roleplaying is the best hobby. evar.

Although like every hobby, it caters to a wide variety of people who like to Roleplay and create. Roleplayers are in touch with their inner storytelling selves.

If you want to go all mystical on it.
