No I am not. The standard array I'm 5e is the elite array from 3.5.

I don't know if 3.0 had a standard array, but my 3.5 PHB & DMG both appear to lack anything that matches those numbers with 3.5phb pg7 saying 4d6keep3, You only get the seven other methods on pg 169/70 of the DMG & that 7 might actually be 10 if you count the 4 different pointbuy pool sizes The design of 5e is one where there is very little room for magic items to be awarded before causing the system math to collapse from PCs far ahead of the curve*. That might be ok if you run nothing but one shots and don't need to worry about the magic items piled up on retired PCs from old campaigns, but that's not so fine with longer lived campaigns. The easiest way to carve out additional room is by changing the expected max and average attributes attributes until the DM decides that it is the wrong fit for an upcoming game. If you are the Dungeon master and feel that the Elite array you should tell your players to use it for your game. The Elite Array should under no circumstances be the default. * Not hard when that curve is a line and PCs exceed it simply by leveling
