shrug I don't know what to tell you. There for a while it was a huge discussion on every DnD site about which was used when. I use it as well, I'm just aware that it isn't the standard. Most of the time people don't care what the symbol on the wall is? Like, right now I've got a group running through a demonic temple, covered with demonic symbols. They've rolled about two knowledge checks, one of which was a critical. Because the only real question was "what is the name of these evil being", it was blatantly obvious that it was an evil entity. And, if they had never asked? Then... nothing would have changed in the adventure. They could have gone the entire adventure, through the entire dungeon, and the knowledge of what exact flavor of evil was here wouldn't have made a difference. Why would it? What is that creature? It is a skeleton. That's it. I don't have them make a knowledge check. There was a strange bird outside, they did make a check to figure out what it was... but it wouldn't have mattered if they didn't know what it was. I think the difference here is that you are stating they are rolled a lot, and I'm pointing out that most of the time, if they didn't roll, it wouldn't have changed anything about their chances of succeeding. Okay, this doesn't apply to or change anything I said. Okay. This doesn't apply to or change anything I said. At the absolute limit, you are just making Wisdom more useful, which again just highlights the poor uses for the other skills. No Dm I have ever played under has done differently. That's close to a dozen at this point? Maybe your games are the outlier, since looking online I can often find threads and discussions about how to make the knowledge skills actually matter. This is not standard for DnD. There is no adventure module or anything else where rolling religion is neccessary or even helpful in social checks with the priest you are talking to. I'm glad for your game, but this is not standard.
