Glad to know the official rulebooks don't matter to you, that makes talking to you even more of a waste of time. You are free to change your game how you like. Please don't pretend that the rulebooks don't say what they say. No it isn't. What changes?! That was the initial flippin' example! So if a player wanted to play a character who was a doctor, with the background of doctor, you'd say "sorry, you can't play that character until you reach a high enough level to have your fake medical degree?" And, again, the adventure scenario I'm quoting isn't assuming high level characters, just someone with the medicine skill. Why do you insist on telling me how game worlds you are no part of must run? Please quote me a rule that says no one is allowed to have organ transplants in their DnD game unless it is a mad scientist (who, weirdly, would be doing organ transplants... in a DnD world... immediately making your entire point false) So no one ever successfully picks up a date at the bar? That would probably be a DC 15 for someone receptive. No one except trained professionals has ever picked a lock? That is a task that takes a highly trained professional with expertise? cause that's a DC 15. Your conception that a medium difficulty task is reserved only for highly trained individuals is laughable. We do things like that constantly in our daily life. No, I'm not
