It's ok. It's not like the arch peasant is a real problem in any case. I know, a 10th level peasant can kick butt on a 1st level fighter. But if the peasant's got the exp to get to 10th level, he should be able to. Since most of the time for non-combat NPC's I never even give classes it's never an issue for me.
