So, let's try to refine this: ALLERGY TO THE SUPERNATURAL The character is allergic to the supernatural. When in the vicinity of something supernatural (including anything directly related to the Cthulhu Mythos), even if he is unaware of it, the character physically reacts badly to it. This is certainly hindering, or even painful, but the character knows that some atrocious things are lurking around... Prerequisite: Knowledge Cthulhu-Mythos: 2+ ranks. The character developped the allergy while being confronted to the Cthulhu Mythos and understanding the horror it represents. Benefit: The character knows that something supernatural is happeneing in the vicinity (100 yards radius), when he is affected by some peculiar allergy or illness. The closer that supernatural thing or manifestation is, the stronger the allergy. Unfortunately, the character doesn't perceives the source; he only understand from his physical reactions that "there is something" out there. This allergy is so specific that it never occurs in other circumstances; only when something supernatural is near. The allergy, which is determined by the GM and player also has some hindering effect upon the character. Example: an arthritis that inflict a -1 penalty on all rolls involving some physical action (fighting, moving, etc.); an uncontrollable sneezing and coughing that negates most attempts at being discreet (listeners are at +4 on their Listen checks); etc. ------------------------ Another feat: ANTIQUARIAN'S EYE The character has a knack for recognizing valuable antiquities. Prerequisite: Knowledge History: 4+ ranks. Benefits: The character gains a +2 bonus to Appraise checks for determining the value of antique items, and a +2 bonus to Knowledge History checks to determine their origin. Furthermore, he gains a +2 bonus to Spot and Search checks to notice / find valuable antiquities among mundane junk; or to notice / find really valuable things among a lot of antiquities. --------------------------- RESPECTED SCHOLAR The character is renown and respected among the scholarly / scientific establishment. This may earn him substantial help from other scholar. Prerequisite: one Knowledge skill: 8+ ranks. The character must have an appropriate profession (typically: University Professor, Scientist, etc.). Benefits: The character gains a +2 bonus to Bluff and Diplomacy checks with anyone who recognizes his status of scholar, scientist, etc. In addition, once per gaming session, the character will be granted access to some scientific laboratory / library / documents / etc. that otherwise would have been closed / forbidden to the characters. --------------------- Enough for tonight...
