D20 Evil : Tyrant Feat

I'm running a solo game for a friend and allowed him to take the Tyrant Feat from the D20 Evil book. It is used in place of Leadership and allows you to recruit humanoid followers based on their CR. Would giving some of these humanoids class levels make them too powerful. Like giving a Gnoll a level in fighter or a Goblin a level in rogue?

Thanks.

I do not own the book, but I'd think that CR vs. LA (and thus ECL) is a distinction of NPC vs. PC. In other words, the feat looks like it's strongly hinting that it belongs in the hands of NPCs, not PCs.

Reading the feat it looks like it was something intended to be in NPC hands instead of PC's. That aside, giving the 'minions' levels shouldn't be a problem, I'd just adjust their value accordingly.

As long as you treat the minions as creatures of their adjusted CRs (once you increase their class levels) it should be fine, especially in a solo evil game. ;)
