[d20 Future] Base price of starship

sinmissing

First Post
I'm trying to build a starship from scratch, but I can't.
How are you suppose to figure out the price of a new engine/accessory without the base price of the starship?

Catch 22
Most starship items have a cost of X + 1/x of the base price of the starship.
This is fine, if you want to modify an existing ship.
But what if you want to build one from scratch? Where is the base for each size of ship?

While the rules at the end suggest that the rules let you build a ship from scratch, and also provide a method for determining the cost of everything, one missing chart has unhinged the system.

Shouldn't there be a chart that has Size categories of each ship, base Defense, to-Hit, Purchase DC, and maybe Mass or Spaces?

Remember that they are just chasis, but you're right.

There is no system for making up new ships. This is the major failing of d20 Future in my mind, especially when they manad it for mechs, robots and others.

Ah well, it's still a good book, and it's not that hard to make this stuff up.

Basically, you have to download a PDF for Alternity to make your own ships.

Tells you where to get it.

They just ripped out the starship system, almost word for word, from that Alternity PDF. Except they left out the most useful stuff, like how to build ships. And things like FTL drives.

Unbelievable. If I had known this, I probably would have given it a 2 in my review.

Alternity remains a better system all around, in my opinion. Regardless, you should expect WotC to continue rehashing Alternity's extensive settings and far-reaching rules systems to feed the d20 Future lineup.
