Because of the interest in the singing and the concern for the wounded dwarf, the five head to Rivendell. Placing the wounded dwarf on his pony, and gathering up their equipment, the group heads to the east, crossing the ford. They move slowly but deliberately, as the wounded dwarf's condition is delicate. Because of this they progress carefully through the night stopping often. However, the air of Elronds realm seems to refresh the group as they walk, and the singing of the unseen elves lightens their hearts. The journey is uneventful as they pass through the clear night into the next day. After passing up and down many hills and countless wooded ravines, the party finally climbs the last hill reaching the great stone arched gateway to the house of Elrond. Entering the main courtyard of the many buildings that comprise the lodging s of the elves, the party can see their approach was noticed. Many fair folk have gathered in the balconies and ledges of the elf crafted structures, and a quiet falls upon the scene. Only the soft sound of the waterfalls that spill from the clefts of rock nearby can be heard. A tall fair elf, known by all to be Elrond, strides across the stone yard. Arrayed in blue-silvered robes, he stops in front of the party. Placing his hand to his heart, he bows. "Greetings to you, visitors, both new and old. I am at a loss in the face of such a host. Some faces here I have not seen for many years, but all are known and welcome." Elrond frowns. " One of your number is injured, and you look to have travelled far. Whatever my House may offer to your aid, you need only to ask. Enter friends."
