[d20 Modern] Archaic Armor

First Post
Looking at the stats of Full Plate, Maile, and Leather armors, I wonder why we ever invented anything else?

After all, Full Plate is tied with the Forced Entry unit and the Light Undercover Vest for the title of "best armor". (All have a maximum Defense of +9)

Right.

Good point. Don't have the book with me now, but I think maybe they should've put in some sort of special 'ballistic weakness' for all non-Kevlar-style armors. Full plate and its kin never did do very well stopping impaling projectile attacks like arrows or guns, and the invention of hand-held pistols is one of the reasons that heavy armor was finally given up. I don't know if that might make ranged attacks too good or not, but really, guns should be more like a touch attack than a normal attack.
