Los Angeles, in the recent years, has suffered drastic increase in crime as a new designer drug, Liquid Bliss, has become widespread on the streets. The street level gangs have been slaughtering each other for the rights and cash required to distribute it, as its highly addictive nature, as well as its ease of distribution (it comes in a powder form that is diluted into water for injection) has made it more valuable than gold to those who deal in narcotics.
Though Chief of Police Jonathon Demal, Mayor Diana Bridge and Governor Schwarzenegger have all condemned this rising crime wave, and demanded action by the police, very little progress has been made at stemming the flow of the drug. The only result has been a rising number of dead detective and DEA agents.
You are members of the LAPD Robbery/Homicide division, overworked in recent months as the crime wave increases. With the narcotics division and DEA no closer to finding the source of the drug, the body count continues to rise among the gangs, police and innocent bystanders caught in the gang fights. The date is July 15th, 2007, and though you do not know it, you will play a key role in upcoming events that will decide the fate of the city.
No pressure.
This is going to be a high action RPG with a heavy dose of martial arts, gun fights and car chases, like Jackie Chan, John Woo or Max Payne. Knowledge of Blood and Fists is required to play, and I want at least two of the characters (preferably more) to be focused on the martial arts. Investigation will play a roll, but except over the top action and martial arts movie type combat to be the focus.
The campaign format will mostly be episodic and character based.
Character creation
A personality and description of at least two paragraphs, and a background of six to eight paragraphs at least. Give me plenty of plot hooks. I prefer to have a character background before I have a character sheet.
Tenth level, 32 point buy plus the leveling bonus. No FX.
Supplements: Blood and Fists, d20 Modern Companions 1 and 2, Urban Arcana, d20 future and d20 apocalypse (use common sense when using these last two sources, and only choose feats and classes that fit in with a contemporary era, or face the wrath of the GM). Anything else requires my permission. We’ll be using the vehicle boarding rules from d20 Apocalypse as well. Note that the martial artist class from the d20 modern manual is not permitted, as it is replaced by the three classes from Blood and Fists.
Important note: This will not be a first come first served game, I will be choosing applicants based on the quality of their character backgrounds.
