d20 modern / eXodus Total Attack Bonus, where does this come from?

Hi all. I'm currently trying to set up some session using exodus. It is based on d20 modern with some tweaks. Anyway, I know how to calculate the BAB etc but I don't understand where this total attack bonus number is coming from? There is a pregen guy with a bat and his total attack bonus says +5. It doesn't seem to add up with his other numbers????

You might be comparing Melee (STR bonus) vs Ranged (DEX) bonus.

I figured it out. it is the max bonus applied to their ranged skill. i thought it had something to do with the particular weapon but it doesn't. it's ranged or melee. Then if they had a bonus to a certain KIND of ranged or melee you might add that as well. For install their ranged bonus might be 4 in general but if it was a pistol they get another plus 1 so for that particular weapon it'd be +5.
