In a (very small) way, d20 Modern was a bridge between 3e and 3.5e versions of d20.  I *might* be interested in something that keeps d20 Modern rules in print combined with some improvements as Pathfinder did for 3.5e. If it were radically different (like dropping the base classes, dropping the Wealth system), I wouldn't be interested at all. I'm not seeing very much in Pathfinder that I think would "improve" d20 Modern.  I've been using True20 anyway for games that I previously would have run in d20 Modern. I'm not convinced there would even be a large enough market for it though. There's already Grim Tales, True20 and Modern20 out there, for example. Personally, I'm also not a fan of the patronage model and wouldn't sign up for one. The only benefit to patronage would be a concrete gauge of interest prior to getting started. I don't think your numbers are realistic (as to what you would get for support - I'm not saying that's not what it would cost to develop the project - I have no idea what that would be). That could serve as an anchor to attract a couple more folks of that caliber to the project. In short, if it came out I'd definitely look at it and consider buying it, but I'm not going to commit beforehand as a patron.
