[d20 Modern] Starcraft Campaign Setting?

This does seem feasible. The Starcraft universe isn't that much radial (i.e. nanotech, the force, magic, etc) They still use guns and its an excellent source of ideas playing either three races.

Anyone else thought of this idea?

I think it could certainly work. Helpful sources could be the Psionics Handbook for Protoss and Terran Ghost abilities, and the SW-RPG and Dungeon/Ploy Mecha Crusade rules for vehicles/armor.

Neat!

They did it for Alternity. I was breifly thinking of a Spycraft/Starcraft hybrid.

Cool. I'd be interested in see where you went with it if you want to start a new thread. You'd have to do some new departments for the non-human races (which isn't a bad thing- you could create seperate templates for different castes/sub-types if you really want to open up options to your PCs). Vehicles aren't hard if you've got the Soldier/Wheelman guide for all the various vehicle qualtites and heavy weapons. Could be a lot of fun, as a humans vs. the critters campaign could involve a lot of the sneaking and spying and shooting with a big-screen feel.

Probably the easiest thing to do would be to take an "Agents of PSI" campaign and mix in some rules from either Star Wars d20 or Dragonstar. All characters start at 4th level as Telepaths or Battleminds.

You now have a Ghost campaign. Just work up some new powers that fit the Ghosts, converta few weapons, and fix up some Zerg & Protoss enemies.

Then throw a Cerebrilith at them for fun. :D

speaking of zerg...

would you have to come up with four different versions of Zerglings (and other troops)

version 1 - basic stats
2 - add to base speed and number of attacks
3 - add to damage dealt
4 - all of the above

each with it's own CR, and whatnot?

(the human and protoss troops would be easier - just add levels and different equipment...)

Shouldn't be that hard . . . all you need is to make a few monsters (easy with the monster-factory like section of d20M), a few extra Psionic powers, and another race (Protoss).

However, might I suggest a radical change? a new ability score, Psi, and a Psychic Hero base class to go with it. Not exactly sure how it would work, but it seems appropriate. Maybe Humans would need a feat to even have a Psi score, most monsters/zerg just plain wouldn't, and the Protoss would have one automatically? Seems a bit more appropriate than basing it off of another ability, since there are plenty of smart Terrans that aren't psychic at all.

Just my 0.02$,
