d20 Neon Genesis Evangelion

Bluewolf

First Post
Some may call me mad... others crazy... but I am a believer that I can create a working d20 version of Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion. Yet I haven't a clue about how to go about doing this, which is why I want to gather experts in d20 systems, fans of NGE and people who just like brain storming.

Knowing what Neon Genesis Evangelion actually is is probably the key factor and a definite requirement if you would like to help me on my quest. So to help anyone lacking the knowledge of NGE here is a link to where you can read up on it (I am not plugging... honest ^-^)

Alternatively you can just type: Neon Genesis Evangelion into any search engine and dig around for the background.

Although we can probably brain storm or chat about NGE until the end of time it would have been all in vain without an expert in d20 mechanics to guide us. It doesn't matter whether you are the authority of d20 or a newbie; you're bound to know more than me, which is why I need you help to pull off an otherwise impossible task.

If you're interested in being a part of this project or just curious, feel free to email me any questions.

you can also check out www.evangelion.com for info as well. as for gaming in the EVA universe I really don't much compelling gaming matriel; because the events of the story tightly wrapped to the characters, and NERV in japan I have difficulty seeing new EVA pilots (without a very compelling backstory. Althougth this could all be avoided by setting the game post 3I and have, Shinji, Asuka, et al make cameos

Not sure how it will work, but I'll help. Own all of Eva. Heck, I even understood Eva.

I did work up some really crude mecha rules a while back, I could try to dig them up as a start for evas...

Sounds like an interest idea, it would be facinating to see how much work d20 needs with this. I can't claim to understand all of Eva, but I liked it and understood a little.:)"

Ex-president of the nancy anime club. Our test for admission was watching the last tape of Evangelion without aspirine:D
For a D20 conversion you have the problem of having 2 scales: one is human scale where the charac ter have nothing extraordinary, the second is huge robot which are out of the the scale of DnD.
Honnestly I don't think Ctuhlu himself would have been a problem for the hero of evangelion in his "robot".

Great, the rules for THIS should be fun...

"You failed your will save against the 'I'm a winey little brat with low self=esteem' factor. Despite the fact that you're all that stands between earth and destruction, do nothing for 3 rounds..."

Yeah, I said this before. I think Eva Unit 01 could rip Cthulhu a new one :)

But you are correct about scale. I believe Call of Cthulhu would actually make a good starting point for this because it has vastly different scales of monsters and a sanity system (which a variation of should be used in Evangelion).
