[imager]http://www.thele.com/thelegames/images/tn/UnorthodoxPirates_tn200w.jpg[/imager]Written by the awesome Xander Bennett, Mark Charke, and James Spahn, this book has the following Pirate classes:

The Freebooter - a pirate that specializes in boarding parties
The Ghostly Buccaneer - a pirate that has made a deal with the devil himself
The Privateer - a pirate who works secretly for the government
The Ravager - a pirate who loves combat
The Swashbuckler - a pirate who knows that "how" you things is more imporant than the deed itself
The Wavelord - a pirate who is born of the sea

But that's not all! This product comes with a portrait pdf (fully bookmarked) for easy printing, Landscape pdf (fully bookmarked) for easy online reading, and our standard Rich-Text-Document version for easy cut / copy / paste (because we know how much it sucks to do that in Acrobat Reader). Ohm why wasn't this published 5 years ago! It would've saved my an awful lot of work when I started my pirate campaign. ;)

Lol. Actually, Unorthodox Pirates has been sitting in my mailbox since June 2004; I only started workign on it about a month or two ago.

lol.

You should see all the stuff my writers have finished (and I have paid for), but have not gotten around to finishing.

But that's the beauty of being my own boss -- I can be as lazy or productive as I want.

Augh. Man am I bitter about that. Unorthodox Wizards was given to a writer 2 years ago, then he just disappeared -- note that I paid him in advance.

[imager]http://www.thele.com/thelegames/images/tn/UnorthodoxWizards_tn200w.jpg[/imager]His initial submission, the Pact Wizard, was really good. The cover was completed last year by Brad McDevitt (http://www.bradleykmcdevitt.net/), and the image is solely based on the pact wizard submission (see image to the right).

<bitter>
In anycase, I will most likely release the Pact Wizard as a stand alone NEO book, then find new writers for Unorthodox Wizards (I'll keep the cover image as is though).

On that note, my writer for Unorthodox Samurai also disappeared on me.

You know, freelancers always talk about how they get screwed by publishers, well I am here to tell you that "getting screwed" is a two-way street. I have never had an artist let me down, but I have had at least 5 writers wig out on me.

Needless to say, I no longer pay in advance.

Ow, sorry about that - I thought that it was one of the manuscripts waiting in your mailbox. (It was in the same announcement as Unorthodox Pirates, once upon a time.) :(

I could have sworn that there was a post somewhere by the author saying that he had finished the book. (Whether he did of not is a seperate matter....)

The Auld Grump

*EDIT* I rather like the firearm rules - makes having the proficiency useful, but lacking it not critical.

Pirates is a hit!

"The pirate finally gets a lot of justice. Unorthodox Pirates gives you some usable pirate classes that are not necessarily forbidden to a pirate campaign. The magic items and pirate familiars such as sea monkey and parrot are a nice touch as well. "
