[QUOTE="timASW, post: 6057364, member: 6698787"] 2 combatants BOB: Chainmail, shield, long sword, Str16, Con 16, Dex 12 FEATS; focus, toughness BAB:1 TOTAL:5 DAMAGE 1D8+3 AC 15, PARRY 16 DR 4armor+3 con=7 HP; 10 human+4 1st fighter+3 toughness = 17 KRAG: dwarf. Chain, Great axe.Str 16, Con 18, Dex 10 feats:focus, toughness BAB:1 TOTAL:7 DAMAGE 1D12+5 AC 10, PARRY 2 DR 4armor+4 con =8 HP: 12 dwarf, +4 fighter 1 +3 toughness = 19 Result? Given average D20 rolls of 10 Bob cant miss Krag. Krag cant parry. Bob rolls 4 damage and adds 5 for his total over 10 AC roll for 9 damage. Krag has toughness 8. So he takes 1 point of damage a round. Krag cannot miss Bob on an average roll or be parried. His attack roll of 17 is 2 over AC 15 so he does 1d12+5(11)+2=13- DR 7 = 6 damage a round. Great axe wins the average fight handily. He's bloodied a bit but the outcome was never in doubt. If Bob put his 2nd feat on focus-shield instead of toughness however he would auto parry Krag with average rolls. Meaning 1 point at a time he would wear Krag down and win without a scratch. Result= feat tax. And then the feat is overpowered. * against multiple attackers however the extra parry each round for the sword and board fighter gives him a major edge in survive-ability over the great weapon wielder. So what I have here is that 1 on 1 with the same feat selection the great weapon fighter crushingly wins everytime. With a feat tax the sword and board wins everytime, and against multiple enemies the great weapon wielder is likely chopped into bits fairly easily while the the sword and boarder has a chance to wear them down.
