d20Modern for improved skill rules in D&D...

Astral Admin - Mwahahaha!
Even if you don't have any interest in d20 Modern per se, I still recommend you pop across and have a look at the Modern SRD sections on skills.

They have done a tremendous job of improving many skills which you will find in D&D.

Jump, for instance, no longer needs a pocket calculator to solve but is a simple DC based mechanism with bonuses or penalties for your speed (plus rules for jumping and pulling yourself over an obstacle, for instance).

Handle Animal is greatly improved with much extra information.

Take a look. You are almost bound to find something useful which you could easily bring directly into D&D.

Cheers

I agree - there are a lot of "improvements" in d20 Modern that show how the game has grown since 3d D&D appeared - the d20 System can now say it's been around the block a few times!

Speaking of skills, another thing I like about the new skills table in d20 Modern is that there is now a column for Action type - react, move, attack, full or special - very handy.

My favorite "Easter Egg" so far is the way the Haste spell was changed.

Check it out.

(You are right though, the attack/move/standard addition to the skills is nice...)

A bunch of the unarmed combat feats would be nice for D&D too, especially the Brawl feats.

I can just imagane the players faces when some experianced bar brawlers put the smack down on them.
