Well at first I read it somewhat negatively but your second sentence clarified it somewhat. A 100% fan-maintained complete d20 game system that no one ever needs to buy or pay 1 cent for. This would be a living and continually evolving game that runs somewhat parallel with Pathfinder and which periodically ingests the better parts of newly released products, as well as incorporating some of the best parts of various 3rd party publishers into the "core" of the game. Many people share similar opinions on what specific subsystems of the Pathfinder game either do not work, or do not work well, yet these same subsystems have been vastly improved by 3rd party publishers. I intend to remove the core piece and replace it with the 3pp Open Game Content version in its place and then sand down the edges so there aren't any rough spots. Specific subsystems I am referring to are things like the Crafting and Metamagic rules. Mark Chance of Spes Magna Games has developed far better mechanics to handle these two subsystems. I would make those pieces "core" and since they're Open Game Content, that is an option. Other things this seeks to address are fixing commonly complained about errors or omissions and making the fixes "core." The Pathfinder Core Rules being based on the SRD and not using all of the various web updates and FAQ updates from Wizards of the Coast, left out several key things that I, by maintaining d20pfsrd.com, notice regularly (Burrow for one example). We would go back over the latest FAQ docs and errata posts that WotC released and attempt to incorporate those into the "core" rules. We also intend to not rely or depend on book sales and all of the restrictions and limitations that having a printed book bring. For example, Paizo routinely does not issue errata for even known problems because it will cause page layout to change by adding additional sentences of descriptive text that explains the point in question. Further, by not having printed books we are never beholden to a printing schedule and having to wait until books are printed to release errata etc. If something is reported as incorrect, it can generally be fixed within minutes, not days, weeks, or months. The only thing this project needs is a dedicated team of people who buy into that concept who will remain involved and active. Now, if you delve too deeply into the site as it is right now you might see some things that appear to be more than "bug fixes" and in fact deep level changes. That is the result of me getting somewhat ahead of myself. The reality is that if I have a team of people to collaborate with this project will probably stick close to the ideas described above, ie, be a very close but slightly different game than Pathfinder. However, if I generally do this solo, I'm likely to get more "fundamental" in scope, meaning, changing much more than I would otherwise. I don't have a problem going either route but in truth the first route probably would have more mass appeal while the second would actually please me more, as I personally would like to explore some of those ideas. But, as I said, if I have a team of people working on this we'd just have to agree on the core motivations and then work towards accomplishing those.
