This is a project tht is in developement right now, and probably will not be released until summer or fall. It is a campaign setting for psionics-centric, or at least inclusive, games.

Still in the "conceptualization" stage, but I figured I would give everybody a heads-up about it. See if anybody has any advice, or would like to offer any assistance.

I know campaign settings don't sell well (if at all), but there has long been a demand amoung the psionics community for a campaign world they can call thier own. I hope to fulfill this need for the community that has given me so much.

No, its on a world called Molokai, hence "The Lands of Molokai".

Actually I think this is a pretty cool idea. I've always wondered what a fantasy setting would be like that isn't based on arcane or divine magic. Please don't anyone say Darksun, because there was far more than just that going on.

I wish I could offer advice, other than that dragons probably don't sit at the top of the monstrous totem pole in this one, and if they do, they would probably have to be altered to make them fit the setting.

I would also think that there might be some alternate core classes, and definitely prestige classes unique to this setting.

A bit of (hopefully) helpful advice...

Search Engines are your friends. While they may not be the absolute authority when chossing names for specific locations, people or things in your work, it doesn't hurt to run your choice through as any search engines as you can find to try and determine if such a name would be too closely identified with something other than what you intend. It didn't take long, for example, for someone to step up and associate the name that you have chosen with a real world island in the Pacific Ocean. Whether that association is detrmental to your intent is something only you can decide. You may also find along the way that other names that you might choose have been used in this very industry or related fields and would therefore need to be avoided lest you cross a line that you legally should not cross. Such a search only takes a short while per search engine and can save you many headaches down the road. Hope that helps!

Actually, that does. I think I'm going to keep "Molokai", as its public domain, already advertised, and..well...just sounds cool. Who knows? Maybe it'll even get me some more pacific island sales!

The core idea for the campaign world as it stands is a fantasy world recoveing from over 1000 years of magical/necromantic warfare. Then 100 years or so ago, a group of extra-planar refugees set up shop in the northernmost continent.

This group of humans never had any exposure to arcane or diine magics, and has developed psionic abilities into a quasiscience, as well as the basis of thier culture.

Now, 100 years later, they have successfuly integrated into thier contintinent's society's. So well in fact, that most of the other races on the continent (mostly dwarves, gnomes, and halflings) prefer the use of psionic powers over magical ones.

Then theres the other two continents. On one, the most war-ravaged, psionics has just recently spread. On the other, the most magical and homeland of the various draconic races, psionics are anethma. Plus several island cultures, and one proto-continent empire.

It's Moloka'i, and yes, it is the island of my birth. I now resides on O'ahu.

The last time someone uttered that name besides being associated with Father Damien and the leper settlement on Kala'upapa (the northern peninsula of the island), is in the FASA BattleTech universe. There is a planet that goes by the name of Molokai in the Free World League space (governed by Captain-General Marik).
