It's been 2 years that the first Stable Diffusion model was released, empowering people to generate images of their liking easily on their own computers. So I searched my computer for my earliest generations and tried to compare them to what can be done now, to measure the progress over 18-24 months.

Progress have been made.

Meanwhile, since AI is useful for other thing than drawing our characters, I'd like to present you with this documentary 100% made by prompting AI to to things: texts by LLM, text to speech, images and animation. It's in French but English subtitles are available.

(The unicorntaur's nearly hidden dagger is a nice touch... in a "touch the horn and get shanked, buck-o" kind of way.)

"A centaur adventurer in the style of a D&D character rough sketch"

Ignore that it did not, in fact, generate a centaur. Dall-e is not fabulous at 'taurs. :p But "D&D rough character sketch" does seem to be pretty consistent in what it creates style wise, and I concur, it's a nice one (these are from the same batch trying to generate a centaur, which did at least generate the unicorntaur I posted above):

AI is bad at centaurs. Dall-E isn't the only one to struggle, even the current SOTA model (Flux) can't. They need specialized training, probably we don't have enough centaurs taking selfies to post on their social medias.
