These creatures simply prefer places of decay, pestilence, and other inhospitable conditions that are common in places like Carceri, Abyss, Hades, and so on. These dragons are never seen without their personal swarm of fiendish, venomous insects that coexist with the dragon in a strange and somewhat parasitic form of symbiosis. The insects live within the bodies of these dragons, using them as well protected and feed on the blood of the creature both for nourishment and to help keep the dragon free of poison, disease, or any other foreign substances.
