Damage Resistance, is it Ex or Su?

Exactly when is DR an Ex or an Su ability? In the SRD it mentions it is either one or the other (in the Types, Subtypes, and Abilities section), but it doesn't mention which one to use. I'm specifically looking at Zombies, they seem to have 5/slashing DR but I can't find any reference (nor even the DR itself in the template, only in the examples) to weather its Ex or Su. Anyone know or know of any consistant way to know? Thanks guys!

For Zombies specifically... I'd say it was Ex., as they are mostly dead skin, and you can poke away at that all day and not do much damage.

One suggestion on this board was that if it required some form of magic or alignment to defeat, it should be Su. This also has the advantage of being consistent with the few creatures that the type of ability listed.

In my campaign, we say that damage reduction that allows a creature to bypass damage reduction of the same type (creatures' natural weapons that have x/magic are considered magical weapons for bypassing damage reduction, etc) are Su while damage reduction that does not (5/bludgeoning for skeletons, etc) is Ex.
