Here's why. Based on what little we know about warlord and warlock as classes, and tiefling and dragonborn as races, they are really starting to feel "grim and gritty" to me (I know, this will probably spawn a 10-page thread debating what "grim and gritty" means :D ). Warlord: "Cut them down, brothers! NOW!" (muscles bulging from his huge battle axe). Tiefling: (eyes glowing red, clawed fingers gripping spear) "I shall spill their blood, my Warlord chieftan!" Warlock: "Starspawn of Cthulhu, I call on you now, honor our PACT!" (lightning sizzles out from trembling gloved hands) Dragonborn: (charges the enemy with the speed and fury of, well, a dragon) "Yessssssss!" Okay, I'm not the world's best favor text writer myself. :o But I hope you get my point. There is something distinctly grim and gritty about these new races and classes. Now I have to say, I like grim and gritty. I like Warhammer. I like Iron Kingdoms. I like "dark and savage" fantasy. Put another way, I'm starting to think that Warlock, Warlord, Tiefling, and Dragonborn just might help make D&D more this: And less this: So bring it on. If it takes Warlocks and Tieflings to reduce the "dungeonpunk ear-pierced wussie leather boys" that 3.x was so fond of, I'm all for it. I'm starting to like the whole "points of light" stuff.
