?? Was this announced earlier (unofficially), or was that a different d20 Modern setting that was being switched to Spycraft...or am I hallucinating that?

Does that mean you're phasing out the d20 Modern version and discontinue support? :(

This was a concern of ours when we decided to move to Spycraft. We are still going to support d20 Modern by providing conversions of all rules we publish in the Spycraft supplements as free pdf downloads off our site (and probably elsewhere). This will make Dark Inheritance the first campaign that can be played with either Spycraft or d20 Modern.

We unofficially announced it over on AEG's Spycraft boards and announced it to retailers and distributors at GAMA.

Is that a promise? I want assurance that you give current Dark Inheritance - d20 Modern book owners a peace of mind.

I take it the AEG folk frown on having dual-stat format for such products, huh?

That is a promise. We not only have (and feel) an obligation to d20 Modern fans of Dark Inheritance but understand how disappointing such a switch can be. We're gamers too!

We seriously thought about dual stating but there are a number of problems that arise. First, it takes up space that could be better used to expand upon the Dark Inheritance setting and new mechanics. For instance, if we dual stated we wouldn't have the space to include the mini-splat books for each of the Lineages (what are Legacies in the d20 Modern Dark Inheritance) in the agency sourcebooks. The second reason is that the new books are branded as Spycraft products. Putting d20 Modern mechanics in a product that is obviously not d20 Modern confuses customers and dilutes the product's viability.

You can expect a continuance of our commitment to d20 Modern and even more imaginative material. The Spycraft Dark Inheritance setting book adds a number of new systems and some changes to current systems, such as an alteration to how titan characters gain their base birthright bonus. These additions, along with erratta, will be available at our website when the Spycraft Dark Inheritance setting book is released.
