http://www.athas.org/ is the official Dark Sun website. They are currently working on a d20 conversion.

They don't have a definite release date for the completed product. They are releasing it in small increments as they finish new things.

Actually, they're releasing proposed conversions. They'll make a change, see how it holds up in playtesting, then make changes based on the feedback.

Bear in mind, the people who are doing the conversion are doing it as a labor of love. They're not going to get paid for it (in spite of some sarcastic comments over on the wizards board... *grumble*), and they can only work on it as their lives permit.

If you have some suggestions, please post them over on the wizards board. Just realize that the conversion has been in discussion for over a year, and more likely than not, any idea offered has been offered before, been tested, and found to be wanting.

The official conversion, you see, tosses out all the rules from 2E, and starts out fresh. They're not converting 2E rules to 3E, they're converting the flavor text and the Prism Pentad to 3E. Everyone is quite welcome to offer conversions of the 2E rules (and some great stuff has been offered, by Strutinan and NytCrawler and a few others). Just don't complain if the Athas.org team doesn't follow precisely the rules of 2E.

And that's the problem with the conversion. The setting is primarily defined by the *game* material written for it, not the novels (which aren't even internally consistent - there are definitely halfling wizards in the Verdant Passage, but in the Cerulean Storm they say halflings can't use wizard magic). The novels are supposed to be a story set in the game world, the game is *not*supposed to be an adaption of the novels.

Regardless, it's still a bunch of darn fine ideas. I just wish they'd actually settle on something. :)

Hmm also wasn't there a recent release about AEG (I think) getting the rights to do Dark Sun modules as well?
Nah. There was a rumor from the GAMA show about it, but nothing concrete has been released so far. Either it's not going to happen, or they're still in negotiation about it.
