Being a Human is a blessing and a curse on Athas. It's easy to blend in but seeing all the strange and powerful races like Elves and Dwarves makes one feel a bit mundane. When he was very young Socrates studied Magic from his father and was an apt pupil but he was headstrong and foolish. When he was just a young boy he ran afoul of a Templar and actualy used the Preservers art in front of her. He was chased across the desert and tracked back to his home village. His parents were able to get him outside the city and into the wilderness just before the Templars destroyed the village that his parents had created. Socrates traveled and grew wise. He now is a wanderer who has specialties skills for building fortifications around cities.</blockquote>
