Darwin's World 2E Opinions

Kirowan

First Post
I a big fan of post-apocalyptic settings and Darwin's World 2E has caught my eye. I've read about the timeline and the various factions, and looked at the preview. It seems to be exactly what I want. However, I don't own D20 Modern and am not much of a D20 expert. So while I know that the setting is what I want, can anyone give me an opinion on how balanced the rules are. Also, how well do they jive with D20 Modern?

Thanks,

Nick

Bias alert- I have done editing for RPGObjects and they publish the books I do write (the Blood books).

So, for what its worth, I can tell you the rules are very compatible with d20 Modern, and felxible enough to handle a wide range of play, from "yahoo" to very grim and very gritty.

That's good enough for me. I read Psion's review of the martial arts book you wrote and plan on picking that up as well.

I haven't actually played it yet since we're still setting up the campaign but from my readings of the books released so far I'm excited, far more than with GWd20. The flexibility is great and the provided setting is just right for my style of PA gaming. I'm very excited to be attacked for the lighter I found in the ruins. :D

If we're talking about the new hardcover -- weil, it's a heckuva thing.

As I went through it, I was like "Steal THAT for my modern game" and "Hey, that's for my future setting" and then "these mutation rules are the supers FX rules I've been mucking with but never fixed"...

Honestly, don't know if it's the best ruleset for post-apocalyptic gaming. But it is great crunch-bit after great crunch-bit. I may steal the Demagogue prestige class for my Fantasy game!

Better than Gamma World. Period.
