Darwin's World VS Redline VS Gamma World d20

lp

First Post
Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on which of these systems to go for. I know absolutely nothing about gamma world d20, slightly more about redline, and a fair bit about darwin's world.

If anyone has their paws on these books (or good knowledge of the books that are to be released) I would like to hear from you.

Important factors in my decision:
support for the books (darwin's world already has a lot, redline looks to be a mini-book on it's own (?), no idea about gamma world)

general style (darwin's world & redline seem to be similar, gamma world seems more generic with world-building tools (?))

what rules are used as a basis, and how is it pulled off well (darwin's world is d20 modern (and also d20 for earlier editions), redline is d20, gamma world is d20 (??))

Any comments or links to other discussions or anything you can offer is cool, thanks!!

d20 Modern with a conversion appendex for d20.

Excellent uv23, the fact that you even mention car wars gets me excited. I will definitely give this book a look, although I took a look around the ffg site and it doesn't look like it will have any more published material.

Hopefully it will mesh well with the darwin's world material out there.. aah now I have to make choices.. I'm bad at making choices...

(eyes spycraft & d20 modern books on shelf)

Dude, can't we all get along!!!

Imagine this ....

Redline's vehicle rules ... Darwin's World equipment and toys .... with Gamma World's mutations ...

yeah, baby! The true promise of d20 comes to pass!

Don't forget you can toss in a little Omega World and a few elements from Hell on Earth d20 to spice things up!
It's a great time to be a PA Gamer!

That is whats so awesome about the D20 thing. Combine to your heart's content and make a better campaign. I just wish the Spycraft and Modern fans can see it the same way

I'm an old time Gamma World fan... from the '80s. I still have a lot of my Gamma World stuff.
Darwin's World gives us a lot of what Gamma World did not... a very gritty feel to a post apocalyptic setting. They both have factions, mutations, blasted landscapes, and many other of the staples of P-A.
I think the biggest difference is where Gamma World was pushed a bit toward the 'Wahoo!', Darwin's World gives a strong push toward the gritty.
I don't have any experience with Redline.
I did read the Omega World mini-setting in Polyhedron, and while it looked pretty slick, I didn't have a chance to play it.
I really can't say which is the BETTER setting, what I can say is that I am very impressed with Darwin's World. I very much enjoyed 1, and Darwin's World 2 is an improvement even over that.
Also... I'm kind of a sucker for the P-A setting... I grew up in the '80s with Reagan's shaky finger over the button, and the constant fear of the Soviets firing some off, as well. The P-A setting holds a special place in my heart.
