[QUOTE="covaithe, post: 5126593, member: 46559"] Morvannon's hurled curse strikes Slardazial directly in the back, but a greenish-purple aura flares as the spell lands, which seems to sap some of the force from it. In any event, it hardly seems to bother the hulking monster at all, and he carries on with the grating chant. The charred flesh from his back begins to regrow almost immediately at an unnatural rate. [sblock=religion DC 10]Clearly Slardazial is involved in a ritual of some sort. [sblock=DC 15]The concentrated necromantic power of the ritual seems to be protecting and restoring him somehow. Attacking him directly would be difficult. Perhaps there is some other way to disrupt the ritual. [sblock=DC 20]If it is strengthening Slardazial, it may also be strengthening the other undead in the room. Looking closely, you can spot traces of the same greenish-purple energy flickering about their bodies. [/sblock] [/sblock] [/sblock] [sblock=various heroics] ooc: The pillars are short, perhaps 2 feet high. They're mainly something to hang the chains onto; more of a [URL="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bollard"]bollard[/URL] than a real pillar. You'd have trouble standing on one. The platform itself is below floor level by two feet or so, leaving the altartop slightly above floor level. You could balance on the chains with a DC 20 acrobatics check... Or you could just leap over the pit to land on the altar with an appropriate athletics check. For example, going from I17 to L14 with a running start, the DC would be 15. Going from L18 to L14 without a running start would be DC 40. See PHB p.182 and 183. It's probably worth pointing out that neither of these options would be particularly [I]safe[/I].
