So, i was playing the MB this morning and having some fun, it's fast and intuitive, but then i noticed there is no optin to upgrade a monster to Elite or Solo. Am I missing something?

Nope, you are not missing anything. There's currently no way to make an elite or solo creature with WotC's monster builder. I suggest you use Asmor's Monster Maker (http://www.asmor.com/programs/monstermaker/index.php) instead.

It would also be great to add templates to your designs in the monster builder. I suppose all that customization is in the pike. I sure hope so, that would be a tremendous waste not to incorporate those options.

Yeah. If this were a perfect world, it'd even allow you to import existing monsters and apply templates to them. I would definitely like that, in addition to to elite/solo functionality, and some various upgrades to the entering of monster powers, such as adding trigger conditions and italicizing miss effects... (which, coincidentally, Asmor's Monster Maker has covered, but only if you enter them yourself and add the appropriate HTML tags...).

Import existing monster, import powers, add templates, change names, types, etc. It would make re-skinning a dream. I use Asmor's Monster Maker. A lot more functionality than Wizards.
