DDI subscription: still full pdfs?

Lonely Tylenol

First Post
I've downloaded all the issues of Dungeon (and Dragon) and I'm thinking of eventually signing up for a DDI subscription, once they get their other features up and running (I ain't gonna pay for no betas). However, it's not clear whether they're still publishing the issues as full PDFs, which is the way I would like them. Can anyone with a DDI subscription fill me in on this?

A second question: if you sign up for a DDI subscription, do you receive access to all the issues of Dragon and Dungeon, or just the ones released during your subscription duration? If the latter, is there an option for going back and picking up earlier issues if, for example, you want to buy their adventure path? If so, does anyone know how much these back issues cost?

A third question: didn't Paizo trademark the name "Adventure Path"?

I think these are all answered in the DDI news section, which I encourage anyone to read for accuracy purposes.

Yes, they still bundle them.

You do not get access to issues from when you were not a member, but they are likely to offer them for sale later, details still being worked out (though you get all the rules in the compendium and character builder, you do not get the back issues themselves).

I'm mostly interested in getting old adventures, not so much old rules articles.

Then, from what's been said, you'll need to purchase them as back issues, when the pricing for that is decided. At the current time, they've said you have access to the current months articles(from when you subscribe till when it expires), and the full issues that are released during your subscription. Which makes it much like a paper subscription, in that regard.

I hope they figure the pricing out for back issues soon, because while I'm not looking to pay a monthly fee, I would like to be able to pick up issues of Dragon with appealing articles.

Seconded. I have no interest in the electronic tools (beta or otherwise), and relatively little in Dungeon, but would be happy to pick up Dragon exclusively. If there was a print version, even better still, but now I am just dreaming... ;)

This is only my guess, but I'm confident that paying for a single PDF of Dragon and a single PDF of Dungeon will cost more than the best subscription price (currently around $5/month, but will increase as more tools are released). I love the whole idea of D&DI but I do have a wise friend who could care less about the online tools, but is subscribing anyway for the magazines.

Now if you only want Dragon or only want Dungeon, that might change things.

Also BTW, the latest free issues (thru Sept) will remain free for everyone. The buy-it-now-by-sub or buy-it-later-solo only starts with Oct's issues. We should get pricing on back issues before the end of January if not sooner, as that should be around the time where subscribers won't be able to simply download October's issues and you'll have to buy the back issue PDF instead.

I do hope it's sooner!

$5 per issue would be a favourable price...

I also hope I can get them at places like RPGNow as this would be very handy! :)
