Who here is going to DDXP?

Does anyone know if there is going to be a NDA to play in the playtests there? I thought I read there was, but I can't find it now.

I'm going (but then again I own and run it).

You will need an NDA signed onsite to get your badge punched in order to gain access to the seminar and Wizards special play area.

Question: How will Wotc be able to enforce the NDA on the seminar attendees if someone would try to spill the beans online anonymously?

Or might this be tolerated or even intended because all this is part of some marketing ploy in the vein of fight club's "You do not talk about fight club!"?

I'm going. First convention I have attended in 8 years....
Question for Dave: Me and a friend want to sign up for two different slots each, so we can play it twice with different characters. Is this gonna be a problem?

PS:awesome to have you posting here....

If DDXP happens and no one at all can talk about what they experienced with the new game and we get nothing about what WotC is thinking so far, I'll be a bit pissed.

The way to create momentum in terms of interest and discussion is not to lock it all down with NDAs.

Hopefully internet anonymity will enable those inclined to leak what they will.

That's between that person and Wotc legal. There is a lot more that goes into that but once again I'm not the person to ask or tell. Wotc Legal wants me to get NDA's in return for showcasing the new edition before anybody else in the world? I say "Sir Yes Sir" and I make it happen.

Welcome back to the convention circuit. I'm willing to bet once you attend a DDXP you'll want to keep coming back (the show is as much about making and hanging out with new friends as it is gaming).

Not a problem. Just buy extra tickets. I have one guy doing it 5 times just for that exact reason.

There are tons of bloggers there (who will be told I'm sure what they can and cannot talk about) and I heard possbily some webcasts of seminars (fingers crossed) so I wouldn't worry. Tons of information will be coming out about the game. Just don't expect people to be PDF'ing copies of the rules and characters sheets.

While it was cool to see scans of 4E content at previous DDXPs, all I'm looking for is the word of mouth experiences of people who actually get to try the game out.

If DDXP goes by and regular attendees say the same nothing about the game itself that all the bloggers and news people who went to WotC headquarters did in their "D&D next" news pieces, I'll be annoyed.

There are lots and lots of people who feel that over the years WotC has misled them, fired them as customers and generally treated them poorly. Broken promises about online tools, bashing their game as part of marketing a new one, etc.,. If they now say "be involved with the future of D&D next" and then do everything they can to lock it all down with NDAs and keep the information under wraps, it'll just be one more instance of WotC saying one thing and doing another.

We just don't need that if the goal is to unify people across editions.

Well...While I know WotC has not really earned complete trust yet, they do seem to be trying to do it right this time. Wait and see how stiff the NDA is before ya get upset. I know I'll be posting what I can/am allowed.
