De-Templatation: How to get rid of templates?

Verequus

First Post
I've read some template books and one idea I've encountered I like: The forced templatation of characters through poison, drugs or simply bad luck.

But I can't use that without a possibility to reverse the effect. AFAIK there are three methods: Wish, a ritual in Savage Species (normally used for transforming characters into other species and not back to themselves), and Break Enchantment or Remove Curse for lycanthropy. The Wish is boring and bland (and paying in XP isn't my desired cost), the other spells are more acceptable for a curse, but most effects are not really curse-like (for example becoming a Marine creature with the ability to breath underwater) and the ritual would be simply an "abuse" of rules - while I like the idea of an ritual, this ritual has another intended purpose.

So do anyone know a good solution of this problem?

I'd suggest making up rules for the specific template(s) in question rather than seeking a panacea for all forced templates. For example, perhaps a template which is the result of a curse by a god of undead could be removed by standing in the light of the noon sun at a specific location consecrated to the sun god. In short, come up with "cures" on a case-by-case basis.

What templates did you plan to use?

Just extend the use of Break Enchantment or Remove Curse to cover a few more specific circumstances, eventually adding specific material/focus components for each "curse", or otherwise make a new spell out of nothing.

Do you know "Shaping the Self" from Genjitsu Games? It contains several afflictable templates: Marine (allows breathing underwater among otherthings), Half-Fiend (as in SRD), Bestial (you take on some characteristics of animals like claws and scent), Tenebrous (some kind of shadow creature), and the Stonebones Curse (turns you into Gargoyle).

BTW, why said Crothian, you are broken?

Li Shenron:
I'll consider it.

You mean the "Rate yourself as a character"-thread, where everyone assigned themselves the appropriate ability scores? What kind of scores did he have? Minimum 14, the rest always one point higher than the former up to twice 18?
