[December] What are you watching?

At some point in December I am going to hermitize myself with the three extended editions of LotR (plus all of the features on the DVDs) and immerse my noggin in their fantastical greatness. :)

Little or nothing it seems.

On the big screen: Did make it to see Ninja Assassin, it was so-so and you would think while they were training a Ninja assassin they would have thrown in some ninja lockpick! Next big release for me is Avatar!

TV: NCIS and Bleach

Hand of Evil, you and me both.

Movies, nothing recently. Nothing I'm really looking forward to.

TV, probably nothing this month, given the holiday. The only shows that I regularly view now are HIMYM, House, Castle, CSI, Flashforward, and SGU.

HIMYM has taken a hit in quality this season, though I'm hoping they get back into form. CSI is better than it was last season (though Ray still sucks), but not yet as good as it once was. I'm hoping LF leaves after is contract is up this year. Flashforward may soon be dropped from my viewing schedule; it's not bad, but it's not really gripping me anymore. SGU is entertaining, but it's very inconsistent so far and lacks any driving force. I'm hoping this changes in the second half of the season.

For me, the only shows that are really firing on all cylinders right now are House and Castle.

Mark - until this year - that was Thanksgiving Day for my family...

CSI, Two and a Half Men, Big Bang Theory, How I met Your Mother, Mythbusters, Ghoster Hunters and Phineas & Ferb...

As for movies - I think the Alice mini series on SyFy (god that feels dirty) looks like it might be pretty good.

Due to a friend having NetFlix, I am watching all of Carnivale.

Lucky. I gotta get back to watching that whole thing. It's definitely good.

I've seen Reclaiming the Blade, which I thought was a pretty good basic intro to Medieval sword-fighting techniques and martial arts. I really liked watching the instructional videos on the second disc.

I watched Star Trek and studied it pretty good, which I didn't get much chance to at the theatres. Still, my original assessment still pretty much stands as a good general review I think. I think working on that film would have been a lot of fun given the additional materials I watched.

I saw the ScyFy Alice thing last night, or part of it anyways, and thought it was at least interesting. Much better than that Tin-Man crap.

I've been trying to watch Fringe and Flashforward, but almost never get to. I often see SGU late, usually a week or so, but at least I get to see it.

This weekend I'm gonna try and see God Grew Tired of Us.

One thing that has really recently struck me as odd, and has struck as odd pretty much everyone I know, is that I've apparently developed a taste for some Bollywood. First of all I've never been able to stand pretty boys (they always make me laugh and I always think of chicks when I see one - well that, or I think of how useless as men they are when instead of being ready to move out as needed they are busy sprucing up their hair and perfume pampering their bottom hatches), dance numbers (dancing to me may be the most useless human art ever invented, if it wasn't needed to get women I'd say outlaw it), musicals (not really boring to me so much as outright insipid), or silly, cartoony, detective and crime stories. But for some crazy reason to me, when you combine all of those things together and it's good looking Indian chicks (I've always liked the dark ladies) dancing around in shiny outfits, well, I'll watch it. And sometimes I'll really like it. I guess it's just the romantic in me.

Now, don't get me wrong. I can't stomach all kinds of Bollywood crap.
But some of it is okay by me. However if you're one a those who just laughs at the notion, then believe me, I understand. I'm just saying, watch those chicks dance around awhile and ask yourself if it's not at least as good a view as Megashark versus Giant Octopus.

On TV, not much. I've got a few episodes of Heroes (forget the cheerleader - save ME from this show) and a LOT of Flash Forward to catch up on but otherwise just waiting for Lost.

On DVD just got the new release of North by Northwest and picked up Boondock Saints at the same time since I'd never seen that. Considering starting over and watching 5 seasons of Lost all the way through before it starts up again.

On the big screen I found Blind Side to be quite good and nothing else in recent past to be all that memorable. Well, okay, 2012 was enjoyable in a put-the-mind-on-idle sort of way as Roland Emmerich's movies generally are. Waiting for the Christmas releases I guess.

I am hoping that and the other Alice movie coming out are both fun. Out of curiosity, how long of a day did your LotRathon turn out to be?

A wonderfully debaucherous 16 hours! :D (There are times when you just have to stop and pee.)

BTW - I'm sending you an email on a completely unrelated matter.

I haven't seen any movies so far this month, though I might go see Avatar and the Sherlock Holmes movie. Neither of them look particularly fantastic, however.

As for TV:
-Flashforward
-Lost (when it's back on)
-Big Bang Theory
-How I Met Your Mother
-The Office
-30 Rock
-Heroes (for now...)
-V (also for now...)
-Legend of the Seeker (this has actually gotten better this season)
-Star Wars: The Clone Wars (character designs aside, this is a surprisingly good show)
-Various cartoons with my son, including: Superhero Squad; Batman: The Brave and the Bold; Spectacular Spider-man

And of course I'm PVR-ing any movies on the movie channel that look interesting. I watched the first of the Thin Man movies the other day and found it quite enjoyable. I found myself laughing out loud (or "LOL"ing, as the kids say) several times. Good stuff.
