Okay. I have some clear contenders here...lemme toss a few out and see what you guys think would be best. ---------- Mellisande, gnome fey sorceress - Despite the 'fey' thing, this character would likely be a blaster...helping shore up the arcane firepower and thus free our wizard for summoning and utility spells. Sorceror, Incantatrix and Abjurant Champion are looking likely for class load. Plenty of metamagic...using the Metamagic Specialist alternate class ability from PHBII if allowed. Probably a bit of a glass cannon, but I'll build in some tricks for survival too, never fear. Maighan, elf druid - I'm of two minds on this one. I could either go for the Simple Variant druid in Unearthed Arcana, where wildshape is replaced by some cool spiffs, then rely on Shapechange for all my formchanging needs, or go the other way and bump wild shape up to make it a viable combat option, and focus on 9th level blasties. Either way works pretty well. It's hard to go wrong with druids. :) Omega, Warforged warblade - Going Warblade and Warforged Juggernaut, Omega's a melee monster who's almost impossible to kill. His list of immunities is ridiculously long, and includes death effects, necromancy in general, ability damage and drain, and mind-affecting effects. The classes listed all give d12 hit dice, and his Con is huge, so he's got HP to spare. Warblade maneuvers give a good spread of defense and offense. His achilles heel is that healing spells don't work on him at all. So unless I finagle permission to give him a custom built item that can cast Repair spells, or our party arcanist wishes to memorize a few, he probably won't be viable. Unnamed warrior concept - This one's a swordsage, and I'm leaning towards an unarmed specialist...a kind of quasi-monk...though that's not etched in stone yet. Not as durable as Omega, this character would have more options due to full class progression in Swordsage, and probably a higher damage output per round. No special race or anything...probably human for the feat, or maybe elf for the Dex boost. Still working on the crunch for this, but it could be pretty devastating, as I look at the 9th level maneuvers. So! A couple of casters, and a couple of warriors. Any/all of which I think could be very useful in this game premise. What I'd like is a general sense of what people think would work best with the characters they're making, and with the party as a whole. Thanks!
