Its gaping jaws look to be completely unhinged and lined with sharp, pin-like teeth. Within is utter darkness that flickers occassionally with even darker blackness. The whole rest of its long, thin body could easily fit within. Spiney, fin-like protrustions line its spine and tail and continuously ripple up and down its length. Its wrinkled skin is of a dark, murky color seemingly thin enough to nearly see through. What little part of its head thats not mouth is taken up by huge, lidless eyes. </p><p></p><p>Deepestblacks are one of the few native creatures found in the Negative Energy Plane, living, or unliving as it were, about the neverending nothingness. Those seen outside their realm are normally the results of expirements with transportational or necrotic magics. What type of expirements these are remains a mystery as those who bring forth the deepestblack seldom live long. A veritable one-beast plague, a deepestblack can rid an entire town of all living creatures in days. </p><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-size: 12px"><strong>Combat:</strong></span></p><p>Deepestblacks prefer to weaken their foes from high above with their breath weapon and then dive down with their permanently gaping maw to swallow their victim. </p><p></p><p><strong>Breath Weapon (Su):</strong></p><p>Once per minute a Deepestblack can release a line of negative energy 60 feet long that deals 4d8+8 damage. Half-damage with a successful reflex save. </p><p></p><p><strong>Everhungered (Ex):</strong></p><p>Any healing spell or other powers that deal with positive energy within 30 feet of the deepestblack is instead drawn into the beast's maw. Spells dealing with negative energy aimed at the deepestblack heals it instead if it is wounded. </p><p></p><p><strong>Improved Grab (Ex): </strong></p><p>To use this ability, a deepestblack must hit with its bite attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it wins the grapple check, it establishes a hold and can try to swallow the foe in the following round.</p><p></p><p><strong>Levitate (Ex):</strong></p><p>It is unknown how a Deepestblack keeps itself seperated from the ground, but even within an anti-magic field it remains boyant. </p><p></p><p><strong>Lifeleach (Su):</strong></p><p>Every round any living creature in an adjoining square to the Deepestblack is drained of 1d4 hit points. This effect can't reduce any creature's hit points to less than 0. Grass and other plants in this vicinity wither quickly. </p><p></p><p><strong>Engulf (Ex):</strong></p><p>A Deepestblack can try to swallow a grabbed opponent of up to its own size by making a successful grapple check.</p><p></p><p>If the swallowed victim is of Large size it may make an opposed strength check to keep from being forced down the Deepestblack's throat. A deepestblack may use its breath weapon at maximum damage however to any being fighting the swallow. </p><p></p><p><strong>Inner Portal (Su):</strong></p><p>Once within the Deepestblack, the victim discovers the link the creature has with its home, for the insides of the deepestblack is a portal directly back to the negative energy plane. The swallowed creature must make a Relfex save (DC 28) each round to avoid falling into or being squeezed through the portal. The Negative side of the portal is stationary, but the other side moves with the deepestblack. If this portal is permanently closed, the Deepestblack dies 1d6 minutes later, falling to the ground and growing weaker and weaker. In this state it is considered helpless and cannot use any of its abilities.</p></blockquote><p></p>
