Descent vs. Doom

Which of these two (quite similar) FFG games do you like better (and why)?

I've played each once only so far, and Doom seems a little better streamlined, while Descent gives more options and seems to be more complex overall.

You need the expansion for Doom, because otherwise the balance is way off. (Running out of ammo is infuriating in Doom).

I don't have a preference, otherwise.

Cheers!

Are you talking about the old first-person-shooters, or something else? I'm unfamiliar with the acronym "FFG" for computer games, and they're not exactly recent, so I'm not sure.

If you're talking about this Descent versus this Doom, then I'd vote Descent. 3D mazes for the win.

They're referring to the boardgame versions from Fantasy Flight Games (hence the "FFG"). Both are fun, but I prefer Descent. I also LOVE Runebound, and I must highly recommend the "Sands" expansion for that game.

Anyway, hope that answers your question.

They're both good. I like DOOM a little bit better, more steamlined. Once you buy the expansions for Descent, the balance gets changed a lot and heroes have a much harder time winning. Still, i have to say that for anyone who likes plastic miniatures and can paint, Doom and Descent and all of the expansions for both games have some of the best miniatures you can find. Extremely high quality. You just need to paint them, but they are often very simple without hundreds of intricate details like you might find on a large Reaper mini.

That was my first thought, too. I've never played the board games, but as far as the computer games go, I also prefer Descent (ah, memories)...

Never really had that problem. I've enjoyed it just fine without the expansion (although I do want to get it).

I noticed that. ;)

Is there more ammo (or a lesser chance to lose ammo) with the expansion?

P.S. What I'd like to hear in general is what elements/details of the game you prefer over the other. :)
