Wow, egg on my face. I honestly thought that place had closed its doors! I looked in a phonebook recently, and couldn't find an entry for them (Lexington residents get several phonebooks every year, so in hindsight it makes sense that somehow some stores get omitted from a few), so I figured they had went the way of Red Rock Collectibles (anyone remember them?) Good to hear the guys at the Scabbard are still around though. I should drop in sometime. As an aside, I notice no one has mentioned either The Comic Interlude (since that doesn't seem to do anything RPG-related), or the brand new Plan B Collectibles store. Has anyone tried that out yet? A brief history of Collectibles Etc. in Lexington. There were originally two stores with that name, working in tandem. From the little I know, Bill and Tony (father and son) ran them, with Bill working the one just off of Richmond Road, and Tony working the one downtown in Southhill Station (under LaserQuest; this is where the downtown Collectibles was originally). Quite a few years ago (not sure when exactly), Tony moved his Collectibles over to the corner of S. Limestone and Euclid, where it was above Tolly Ho, so as to have greater space (and, I think, exposure). Things were quiet for a few years, then Bill's lung cancer began to get worse. In late 2002, he passed away. Tony, having known of his Dad's lung cancer, made a plan to close the downtown location, which he did around December 2002, and took over operating the uptown location that Bill had run. However, the "Collectibles Etc." sign at the S. Limestone and Euclid location, as well as a few remaining anime wall scrolls, remained there for almost a year. This resulted in some confusion among the Lexington populace; as it turned out, the group that bought that location (whoever they were) couldn't get their act together, and after several months, a record store (who's name escapes me at the moment) bought the location, and has finally removed the sign (at least, I'm pretty sure it has). The only Collectibles in Lexington now is the one just off of Richmond Road (I think that street is N. Locust Hill Dr...or something like that anyway). Thanks, but I don't think we know each other in real life, since I haven't been to Frankfort since I was a kid. This is Shane in Lexington on the slim chance that you know me even though I don't know you.
