I want this adventure (probably 2-3 sessions long) to offer my players several approaches in how they resolve the challenges of the Valley of Dread... this is all a work in progress and I welcome your feedback or critique... :) 1. Assassination If the players decide to assassinate Kes’thak the Lizard King before he becomes too powerful, they’ll need to (A) get an “inside lizardman”, (B) find Kes’thak’s weakness, (C) infiltrate Zerzura the lizardfolk “city”, and (D) carry out their assassination plan. Should Kes’thak not be killed in time, he becomes an avatar of Sess’innek. 2. “Gather Allies and Go to War” = Diplomacy/Mass Combat If the players decide to rally independent lizardfolk tribes to face the Akabkan in battle, they’ll need to (A) perform a quest for the Zopchik (?), (B) perform a quest for the Shazak (?), (C) perform a quest for the Wallara (keep their Tookoo tree hidden?), and (D) lead a mass combat. Should the lizardfolk not be rallied against the Akabkan, the remaining tribes capitulate and join the confederacy. 3. “Stop the Ritual” = Dungeon Crawling If the players decide to stop the shaman Ossil from summoning the demon lord Sess’innek, they’ll need to (A) Keep the priests of Semuanya guarding Semuanya’s Birthing Stones from being tricked away by Ossil, (B) Uncover link between Sess’innek and the Devourer in the Catacombs of the Lizard Kings, (C) Attack or infiltrate the Pyramid of Sess’innek, and (D) Destroy the portal to Kearackinin (7th layer of the Abyss). Ossil needs to bring object # to Pyramid and install it there on ## prescribed day. Should the ritual not be stopped, Sess’innek is summoned to Chult. 4. “Turn Villains Against Each Other” = Intrigue If the players decide to sow discord between the Lizard King, his shaman Ossil, the various constituent tribes of the Akabkan confederacy, and miscellaneous allies of the tribe (e.g. yuan-ti defectors revering Sess’innek & alchemists of Eelstead & wights of Kuluth-Mar), they’ll need to (A) discover/fabricate dirt on one or more of these power groups, (B) ?, (C) ?, (D) ?
