You know, I had been looking at the Devil's Workshop's Lost Classes pdfs for a few days, and with this announcement I figured I'd go for it. At 99 cents, even if they sucked, it wouldn't be such a big deal.

I have to say I am glad to have been pleasantly surprised. I bought the announced Warrior Queen Lost Classes and Lost Relics, along with Lost Classes: Defender of the Realm, and the Image Portfolio: Fantasy Cityscape. I would have to say that by far this has been the best pdf purchase I have made at RPGNow.com. (Just to explain, I am not that huge a pdf buyer, so it's not like I have a great record to compare this statement against, but still, for what it' worth.)

I know there are various opinions about the so-called "chunk-o-books", but I like them; I like being able to get what I want at an affordable price without extra clutter. The writing on these three pdfs was top notch, the design sound and tight, and the concepts generic enough to fit anywhere, but still prestigious enough to earn the name of "prestige class." The Lost Relics were also interesting, not obscenely powerful, but deserving of the apellation of "relic." (As a side note, any chance there will be a Lost Relics: Warrior Queen 2 pdf detailing the Warrior Queen's invisible ornithopter? ;) ) And let's face it, for an average of a dollar each, it was probably some of the best value for an rpg supplement I have ever spent.

I also wanted to toss a comment about the Image Portfolio: Awesome! At $3 it was worth many times that. The images are great quality, generic yet with character, and the selection simply imaginative and comprehensive. Whether I end up using them in a possible publishing project or not is irrelevant; the ideas that I got as I paged through the collection were worth a fortune, and for that I thank you. I will certainly buy all the other fantasy Image Portfolios and eagerly await new ones.

I guess, in short, all I have to say is: great job, guys. Please keep it up, you have a sure buyer here.

Thank you for saying this! I've heard complaints from a few very loud people (the funny thing is that one of the loudest complainers is now releasing his own "chunk-o-book" PDFs) and it's nice to see someone who appreciates the ability to purchase exactly what he wants.

Again, thank you.

Now, next year, when the sales will decrease (I can't really fathom how pdf sales go and for how long time), maybe it wouldn't hurt (at least it wouldn't hurt the customers) to release a unique pdf for say 5-7 dollars containing all of these single classes in one book.

Just my 2 cents opinion of course

I'm sure they're great, LPJ. What I can't figure out (as a fellow publisher) is how you can get the writing, art, and layout together with a budget that makes sense.

I never much understood the objection to the format. It's a free market thing, if the "chunk-o-books" didn't work, they wouldn't sell.
