Devoted Players Seeking DM for 3.5

Moon

First Post
Ever put your heart and soul into a concept, only to see it fall apart after a few sessions? We have. You know the culprits: flaky DMs, unreliable players, disruptive characters, and just plain bad role-playing. We have seen these things tear down what could have been a wonderful experience, and we are tired of it. We have decided that it is time to stop hoping a better game will come our way, and take the initiative.

The two of us are looking for a DM who is as devoted to building a intriguing in-depth campaign as us. We believe in having well fleshed out characters with complex relationships. You won’t find any brain dead fighters who can’t say a word outside of “I full attack” here.

As for the actual game, we have several premade character concepts that were built for previous games. Though these concepts have a special place in our heart, we are more than willing to start from scratch to fit into a new game world. You will find us flexible and easy to get along with. We don’t belive in drama.

There are only a few things we would like to ask for:
That the game be gestalt.
That the game be run live through chat. (Aim, Maptools, Flash Chat, IRC, etc)
That the level be 5 or higher.
No book restrictions. (Trust is an important part of the game. We trust the dm to not try to “win the game”, and expect him to trust us not to attempt to break it.)
The ratio of roleplay to combat favors roleplay.
Reliability. (Hands down the most important.)

However, we are negotiable! (Except for the reliability, that's critical.)

In return you will be getting this:
A group of devoted players.
Intriguing characters that grow and mature as the game goes on.
An enjoyable gaming experience with some new laid back friends.

Wish list:
Pirate/Naval Campaign
Heavy Political Intrigue Campaign
Mercenary Company
Wandering Warriors
Northern Expedition/Frostburn
Any decent non railroaded campaign that lasts more than 4 sessions.

Contact Info: moonmama17@gmail.com or reply with how we can reach you.

Thanks so much!

Reliable.

How many sessions a month are you looking for? I'm a well versed and veteran DM and have recently posted on these forums to get an online game started. All campaigns I run have the advantage of longevity as long as the players are involved which it sounds like you are. My favored medium is maptools.

My game beginnings tend to have a bit different components than what you are looking for IE I am highly biased to starting at level one. However, I have a good progression in game and if players don't mess around OOC too much then gaining those initial levels wont be a grueling ordeal. I work with my players and provide fair opportunities for advancing gear and character abilities. While I normally ban psionics in a non psionics campaign I might be willing to allow it if someone has interest with a guarantee that I won't have to smite the character for silliness.

As to Roleplay I support as much as the characters are willing to commit to. I won't neglect the action since it's still an integral part of the game but, I know my way around a fair amount of intrigue and in depth plot. My current focus/pet project as a DM is in fact a mercenary/rogue military unit style play. It is a loose take off of the Malazan Book of the Fallen series and if you are familiar with that you know the massive scope thats being promoted.

I reside in the central time zone, if you are interested you can send me a message with any questions you might have.

I am also looking for a dedicated game to join! I am very reliable and I even come with a privet paid Ventrillo server for live chat games. I will DM if I must but I am really looking to play as I have not had the chance to do so in 2 years! I recommend we let him run us 3 plus one more if we find one.

I love Gestalts and with them we do not have to have the 4th player. I am not opposed to starting at 1st either. When I make a character it is well planned out to 20th but, built to except changing circumstances and will be adaptable.

I like that question: How many sessions a month? For this game I say about 4. Once a week is easy enough for all of us to maintain reliability while keeping a steady and good game pace. If you guys want more I am not opposed! If the DM can not handle more then I can run a second game. I just request we be consistent on who's game is top priority! (I vote HIS!)

Hit me here with a PM or on skype at sullyoffice. I am in Beijing China teaching English. This means I have loads of free time and need to fill it! My mornings coincide with your evenings and I do not work until 3:30pm my time. That is 3:30am EST. I am not available Sat Sun morning my time. (That's Fri Sat EST.) I have my Xing Yi Quan Classes. (I is learning to be Monk in real life!)

Look forward to hearing from you,
Sully

I would also be interested in playing in this campaign if possible. However, I could possibly DM if no one else is interested. The campaign I would run would be a homebrew one that focuses on role play, nations at war, and political intrigue (with a focus on in-game religions). I have run this campaign before but never to completion. But with that being said, I prefer to play.

You never contacted me... You should. It will be a week or so before I can be really reliable as I am traveling at the moment but, send me a PM and we can work something out.

I replied to your query a few weeks back, regarding slots in my weekly game. As far as reliability is concerned, I've been running this particular game for a few years, now.

There are only a few things we would like to ask for:
That the game be gestalt.

I suppose that’s negotiable. I do allow psionics, warlocks, incarnum, Tome of Magic, and Oriental Adventures in the game, after all.

That the game be run live through chat. (Aim, Maptools, Flash Chat, IRC, etc)

IRC every Sunday... with a few exceptions, today being one of them... holiday, and all.

That the level be 5 or higher.

Currently L7, with a chunk of XP about to be awarded to current PCs.

No book restrictions. (Trust is an important part of the game. We trust the dm to not try to “win the game”, and expect him to trust us not to attempt to break it.)

So long as I have the book, I allow its use. That being said, since 1995 my online games have been set in the World of Greyhawk, so I own precious few books for other settings.

The ratio of roleplay to combat favors roleplay.

Done. I favor entire sessions of PC/NPC banter over combat any day.

Wish list:
Pirate/Naval Campaign

Gotcha covered... with a bit more water, of course.
