Dexterous Cleric

As the player of Warlord may be absent in the next game, I may make and use a 3rd-level leader instead of my current PC, for that game only.

Now, I am considering to make a dexterous cleric, high in both Dex (thus initiative and non-heavy-armor AC) and of course, Wis.

I know dexterity, basically, never effects on Cleric powers and feats. But at least having high initiative bonus may be an interesting approach and high speed (because not wearing a heavy armor) as a leader.

At this moment I am thinking about making an Elven cleric with either Improved Initiative or Quickdraw feat.

Also, it is better if he can have some measure to go where he needs to go. I mean, either descent Athletics skill or some special movement ability. Maybe I can use Eladrin instead, for gaining Fey Step. But maybe taking Athletics via background or multi-class feat may be enough.

Are there any good suggestions for such kind of build? Appropriate or interesting feats, magic items, etc.?

I can have standard gear for a 3rd-level PC. I mean, a 2nd-level item, a 3rd-level item, a 4th-level item, 520 gp and other minor gear.

Githzerai and PHB 3 materials are not yet allowed in the current campaign. And I don't like Gith much anyway. So please do not suggest that.

You could also consider a hybrid Elf Cleric|Seeker if a controller cleric is what you're going for, though I think Elf Cleric|Ranger works a little better. Sehanine is definitely a fun option either way.

Have you checked Klaus's excellent article on Sehanine?

Lots of tasty stuff for Elven, bow-using Clerics.

Is it an online article? Unfortunately, I am allowed to use rules already published as books in Japanese language. Most of the books are already translated. But PHB 3 and MP 2 need several months. And of course, something on dungeon/dragon are not allowed. Something on Dragon Magazine Annual is OK (as it is already released in Japanese) though.

Have you considered a Deva with Battle Intuition? Or you could multiclass fighter and take Wary Fighter.

Unfortunately, our play group ban something from Dragon or Dungeon, until it is actually published in the Annual or Compendium. This is a tradition we have been adopting since the age of AD&D/Basic D&D.

Yeah, it's online Dragon. Sorry, man.

I think it's destined for the next Dragon Annual, but it's not there yet. Maybe you can talk your DM into making an exception. :)

I think the Eladrin idea should work well. You don't get much use out of your +2 INT, but the +2 DEX obviously is good. You can start with a 16 WIS, 14 DEX, and 14 CHA. Fey Step is nice for anyone, your DEX will be 16 after racial bonus, so +3 AC means you can wear Hide and get a good AC. You will have good NADs too.

Elf will work even better mechanically, but your defenses will be slightly lower. You could probably get 2 more points of DEX though. Both options are fun.

At low levels, a simple elven cleric with longbow is pretty good.

I would drop the quickdraw feat since you don't really need to have anything in your hands other than a bow - if you're getting attacked in melee, you're doing it wrong :)

Cleric powers for short range and basic ranged attack at long range.

You can even MC into Ranger to get striker damage for two rounds and get a bonus skill proficiency.

I would avoid Hybrid personally, since I think cleric gives up too much.

I would much rather be a leader 100% of the time with a couple of rounds of striker for a couple of rounds every combat than 50% leader, 50% striker 100% of the time.
