Did Tome of Magic introduce 3 new core classes?

I've seen binders in play both as a player and as a DM, and I can safely say they're one of my favorite non-PHB base classes. The truenamer and the shadowcaster I'm not such a huge fan of, but I haven't tried Mouseferatu's shadowcaster fixes yet (since he wrote the class, I assume he knows what he's doing). If you poke around the rules and house rules boards, you're sure to find a lot of people trying to fix the truenaming system, with limited success.

Demiurge out.

I suppose what you meant is "Are there base classes in ToM, and by the way Bo9S is totally broken", in which case, I am astonished at your clever segue. .

No, not saying broken, I've just heard that they're more powerful than other classes. (Kind of like the cleric to other core classes :)

Binders are down right crappy until they can bind two vestiges at one time. After that, early teens I think, they get pretty decent. Well that and by level 5 they have an unlimited about of out of combat heals which is pretty solid.

Truenamers and Shadowcasters just blow. Sure if you try really hard to can make them playable but they are no where near the power level of the ToB classes.

But yes there are three new base classes in tome of magic (well since Shadowcasters and Truenamers are only worth 3/4 a real class than I guess it really only has 2.5) and at least a couple prestige classes for each new system.

I was just looking at the character sheets on wotc.com. It shows character sheets for three new classes..are they core or prestige (or a hybrid like Book of 9 swords?)

Neither, they're base classes.

Core classes are the ones that appear in the core books. PHB, DMG, MM.

Base classes are the 20 level classes you can start as right out of the gate, such as the Swashbuckler or Hexblade from Complete Warrior.

The Binder, Shadowcaster, and Truenamer presented in ToM are all base classes.

You've heard wrong.

They're all a bit on the more .. ah .. conservative side, shall we say. All interesting in their own way, but they're not exactly grabbing Ultimate Cosmic Power by the short hairs and telling it who's boss.
